What is ISOFIX?
ISOFIX is a fixed interface with standardized anchoring points for securely installing the child safety seat in a vehicle. It has by now become the international standard for all automobile and child safety seat manufacturers. This anchoring technology minimizes installation mistakes and optimizes the protective effect by means of a solid connection between child safety seat and vehicle.
In cooperation with Volkswagen, we introduced the first Group 1 ISOFIX child safety seat during the 1997 IAA. This development later became an international requirement for vehicles and child safety seats.
Why ISOFIX?
Only 30% of child seats are installed correctly when using an adult seat belt, 96% when using the ISOFIX system!* A BRITAX survey showed that even one in five parents regularly break the law when it comes to car safety for children (click here for more info).

The most important argument for ISOFIX is the extremely simple and quick installment and removal of the seat and the resulting improved safety. Since ISOFIX seats are always equipped with a foot prop and/or top tether, tipping and rotation movements are also reduced. Furthermore, the child safety seat is also securely anchored when driving without a child.
Advanced ISOFIX technology - Our latest safety improvement.
Advanced ISOFIX seats use the ISOFIX installation system with the addition of a third anchorage point: the top tether, reinforcing the seat’s stability. Look out for these symbols in your car and check your vehicle’s user guide to ensure compatibility.
What is ISOFIX+?
ISOFIX+ seats use the ISOFIX installation system with the addition of the V-Tether, a top tether which adds a third anchorage point, reinforcing the seat’s stability. In the event of an accident, our intelligent V-Tether technology absorbs impact forces proportionate to those generated by the collision, dramatically reducing any forward or rotational movement in a crash situation. Even more protection for your child.
The difference between ISOFIX and ISOFIT
ISOFIX and ISOFIT are child safety seats that are attached to the vehicle body with connectors. With our ISOFIX seats, the child is secured by means of an integrated 5-point belt system; with ISOFIT by means of the vehicle's 3-point belt. An additional distinguishing feature is the classification of the child safety seat. The ISOFIX description is used for Group 0+ and 1, and the ISOFIT description for Group 2-3.

BRITAX products with anti-tip system (Pivot Link)

This unique patented system has been developed by BRITAX. It takes advantage of the ISOFIX anchoring system while simultaneously reducing much of the forward rotation of the seat using the pivot link, thus channelling a large part of the energy downwards into the car seat.
This means that in the first phase of the collision, the movement of the child that is directed forward is markedly absorbed and reduced by means of the seat being initially pressed into the car seat. In the second phase, the forward movement of the child safety seat is slowed down. All in all, this causes the pivot link to reduce the strain placed on the child’s body and the cervical spine in particular.
